Saturday 4th July 2009: There’s Only One Skivo!
After current assistant manager Terry Skiverton signed a new deal with Yeovil Town earlier this week, we decided to look back at the club legend’s eventful testimonial.
The testimonial took place during Skivo’s reign as manager and was played between a Yeovil Town 2002-03 XI managed by Gary Johnson and a Terry Skiverton Select XI managed by Colin Lippiatt.
Players included legendary ex-Glovers such as Gavin Williams, Warren Patmore and Skiverton himself, as well as familiar faces from the media such as Geoff Twentyman and Soccer AM’s Tubes. Continue reading “#ThrowbackThursday: Town Give Terry a Testimonial”
Yeovil Town made their fourth summer signing earlier today, snapping up former Bournemouth and Plymouth Argyle defender Stephane Zubar.
However, the Guadeloupean has spent the last season outside of the Football League, plying his trade with Weymouth in the Southern League Premier Divison.
The move from the Terras to the Glovers may not seem like a betrayal on the scale of, for example, Sol Campbell swapping Tottenham Hotspur for Arsenal, but that’s how Weymouth fans are treating it. Continue reading “Weymouth fans aren’t happy with Yeovil Town’s new signing”
Tuesday 24th August 2004 – A crazy cup game!
As Yeovil Town signed former Plymouth Argyle midfielder Connor Smith yesterday, we decided to look back on a dramatic Carling Cup game against the Pilgrims from the 2004/05 season.
Lee Johnson scored a hat-trick to secure an impressive 3 – 2 win for the Glovers at Huish Park, but it was his first goal that is most memorable.
After the away side kicked the ball out of play so that Graham Coughlan could receive treatment for an injury, Johnson attempted to return the ball to goalkeeper Luke McCormick, instead finding the back of the net!
As the home fans were unsure whether or not to celebrate, both sets of players looked around in confusion. Continue reading “#ThrowbackThursday: Lee Johnson scores freak goal against Plymouth Argyle”
Saturday 30th January 2016 – Viva Jack Compton!
With former Yeovil winger Jack Compton being linked with a return to the club, we thought we’d look back at one of his shining moments during his first spell.
Midway through the 2015/16 season, the 28-year-old scored three goals and was the Glovers’ star man in a 3 – 2 win over AFC Wimbledon at Kingsmeadow.
After the away side fell behind early on, the former Newport man made the score 1 – 1 with a cool finish from Liam Walsh’s through ball.
Yeovil conceded again but Compton conjured up another equaliser with a sweetly-struck free kick. However, whether or not he meant it is up for debate! Continue reading “#ThrowbackThursday: Current Yeovil target Jack Compton nets a hat-trick at AFC Wimbledon”
Yeovil Town supporters have made their feelings about the three stars on their new shirt very clear, with anger on social media and even a petition to try and change the design.
Many Glovers fans are embarrassed and think the stars, which represent the club’s 15 seasons in the Football League, will be ridiculed by other teams.
We decided to search Twitter to find out what the consensus was from those other teams. Here are some of the most damning comments.
Wycombe Wanderers (and Bristol Rovers):

Ever since it was announced that Yeovil would have a new away kit for the 2017/18 season, rumours had circulated that it was a stunner. Those rumours were correct.
Just like the home shirt was launched a week ago, the stylish black strip was revealed on the YTFC Twitter account to glowingly positive reviews from fans.
The jersey is a simpler design from Sondico in comparison to their most recent home effort, with a black checked pattern, yellow and green trim on the sleeves, and a smart collar. Continue reading “Fashion Police: Analysing Yeovil Town’s 2017/18 Away Shirt”
It may still be a while until the 2017/18 season begins, but Yeovil fans are becoming impatient with Darren Way’s pre-season progress.
Despite five players already signing new contracts, concerns have arisen because key members of the squad such as Kevin Dawson, Alex Lacey and Matty Dolan have all left the Glovers and are yet to be replaced.
We’ve put together a table to compare the 2016/17 pre-season with this season in order to assess how successful the Glovers’ transfer business is, and we’ll continue to update it as new players arrive.
One key thing to note is that Darren didn’t make any signings until 1 July last year when Tom Eaves, Otis Khan and Liam Shephard (loan) all joined, which would imply that there’s no need to panic just yet.
Although this is only his second pre-season as a manager, it would seem as if Darren doesn’t mind leaving it late, as July is the latest the first permanent signing of a season has been made in the last 10 campaigns. The earliest came in 2008 when Russell Slade snapped up Danny Schofield on 7 May.
The table as it stands can be viewed in full below, and will continue to be updated here: Continue reading “2016 vs 2017 Yeovil Town Transfer Tracker”
