To begin our look back at the 2016/17 campaign, we’re choosing our player of the season.
Such is the sour mood around Huish Park at the moment, there are some fans that claim nobody deserves a ‘Best Player’ award. That simply isn’t true, as there are many members of the team this season who deserve recognition. Here, we’ve given our top three.
Make sure to let us know whether you think we made the right choice on Twitter. Who would you have picked?
Yeovil Town fell to their first home defeat of the 2016/17 season against Morecambe. A second half Kevin Ellison goal was enough to send the Shrimpers home happy, although goalkeeper Barry Roche was forced into numerous fine saves to protect the away side’s clean sheet.
While there was an obvious sense of disappointment and frustration around Huish Park from the home faithful, I didn’t think the Glovers’ performance was too bad; they simply had a bad day at the office against a well-set up and organised team who knew how to thwart Yeovil’s attacks. Who cares about the England squad? Yeovil Town have finally announced their released and retained lists! While there are some obvious judgements, there are a couple of surprises as well. Here’s what we made of Darren Way’s decisions.
Out of contract but given new offers:
Artur Krysiak (43 appearances, 0 goals)
The name Artur Krysiak would be high on a list of players that supporters would like to see playing at Huish Park next season, with the Polish ‘keeper proving to be a fan’s favourite. Unless the terms of the contract he has been offered are hugely different to what he was expecting, it would be a surprise to not see him signing on considering the fact he’s already posted some tweets alluding to his aims for the future with the Glovers.
After a nail-biting affair between these two sides in the FA Cup earlier this season, it was somewhat of a surprise (and a disappointment) that this encounter ended in a drab goalless draw. However, it’s still a welcome point for the Glovers, who aren’t 100% safe from relegation yet.
