#ThrowbackThursday: Town Give Terry a Testimonial

Saturday 4th July 2009: There’s Only One Skivo!

After current assistant manager Terry Skiverton signed a new deal with Yeovil Town earlier this week, we decided to look back at the club legend’s eventful testimonial.

The testimonial took place during Skivo’s reign as manager and was played between a Yeovil Town 2002-03 XI managed by Gary Johnson and a Terry Skiverton Select XI managed by Colin Lippiatt.

Players included legendary ex-Glovers such as Gavin Williams, Warren Patmore and Skiverton himself, as well as familiar faces from the media such as Geoff Twentyman and Soccer AM’s Tubes.

In a 4 – 4 draw, the most memorable moment of the game came when Skiverton’s side won a penalty late on. The man himself stepped up to take it, but blasted the ball over the bar!

The referee ruled that goalkeeper Marc Bircham had moved off his line too quickly, and decided the penalty should be retaken. However, Skivo was pushed away by Gary Johnson, who clearly wasn’t happy with his former player’s previous effort!

Instead of taking it himself, Johnson passed the ball across the box to Skiverton, who this time got his shot on target and fired in the final goal of the day.

There was still time for another big moment – this time an emotional one – as Skiverton was subbed off for Darren Way, allowing the midfielder to make his first appearance since his traffic accident.
