Yeovil Town’s transfer deadline day was, predictably, a quiet one. Therefore, attention turned to ex-Glovers who were on the move.
Ryan Inniss went to Southend United, David Noble moved to St Albans, and former trialist Dominic Gape was loaned to Wycombe Wanderers from Southampton.
However, the biggest news came with just minutes left of the window closing when goalkeeper Chris Weale, who left Yeovil at the end of last season, agreed a deal with Derby County.
Despite being a club legend in Somerset, Derby fans were left shocked and bemused at the signing. They took their anger to Twitter almost immediately, and they didn’t exactly welcome Weale to their club.
Here are some of the best – or worst, depending on how you look at it – tweets from those Rams supporters. WARNING: some, if not most, contain bad language.
Ardent Yeovil fans will know that the final tweet included is actually factually inaccurate, because Weale did net a memorable equaliser for the Glovers against Hereford United back in 2009.
In order to finish this article on a more positive note, let’s remind ourselves of that fantastic moment and take the time to wish Wealey the very best of luck in winning over the Derby fans.
